Rover P5B 3.5 Coupe - from £34,995
Larger engine & more discreet upgrades
These are personal favourites with us. Magnificently British they formed a part of Government and Royal fleets throughout their production. So much importance was placed upon their usability by the Government that they ordered and stored a number of these cars for use long after production ended.
The car was launched as a 3 litre 6 cylinder car in 1958 as a saloon followed by the Coupe which was a slightly lower roof saloon with a curved rear roofline. As production continued into the 60s the car was woefully underpowered compared to the completion. Rover had the bright idea of buying the small block 3.5 litre V8 which Buick in the States felt was useless in size for them to use.
It transformed the car and gave it a new lease of life and it was able to hold its own against its Jaguar competitors. The car was upgraded with new wheels and other useful equipment to keep its life going until 1973.
The car today is in build for a customer. It is being completely restored for November release. However as its been completely stripped down we are able to fit a number of discreet upgrades at the customers request and as we have done before.
The car will look completely standard but will sit on slightly wider wheels for better handling as the car will be fitted with a 5 speed ZF auto box and a bored out engine to 4.0 litres. It will also have a new hidden sound system and air conditioning. It will be a great modern classic and the customer intends to use it daily.
Finished to the above spec £39995.00. Completely restored P5B Coupe starts from £34995.00 with the larger engine and gearbox
